A Home Around a Pool
Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan
Interior Renovation, Built
30,000 Sq. Ft.
This home is for a ceramist and a painter. The couple wished to have spaces in which they could each create their art in a specific and solitary way. As a design strategy, the home is divided into a studio and living unit. A screened courtyard in the middle allows for ample light and cross ventilation. It serves as an interstitial space that separates but also connects the two sections of the home.

Our team consists of architects, artists, writers and makers: each contributing their unique strengths and sensitivities to the work we do. We celebrate each other’s strengths and interests, and use them as a way to create meaningful work. We work together around a large table in the studio. This allows for conversation and healthy exchange which fuels our collective work.
Outside the studio, we are involved in activities that keep us inspired, informed and relevant. We enjoy teaching and mentoring, as a way of sharing and learning. Some of us teach undergraduate and graduate courses at various design schools in the city. We are also active members of the design fraternity and contribute in leadership roles within professional bodies such as the IAP. We enjoy collaborating with people and organizations who share similar aspirations of a better and beautiful world.
