A Home Around a Pool
Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan
Interior Renovation, Built
30,000 Sq. Ft.
This home is for a ceramist and a painter. The couple wished to have spaces in which they could each create their art in a specific and solitary way. As a design strategy, the home is divided into a studio and living unit. A screened courtyard in the middle allows for ample light and cross ventilation. It serves as an interstitial space that separates but also connects the two sections of the home.
Indus Academy
Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan
Renovation, Completed
18,000 sqft
This project is a renovation and extension to an existing two storey building. An extensive program consisting of a library, laboratories and classrooms are added to the existing structure. Each open space is characterized by a different scale and quality that allows for variance in use and activity. Such pockets become areas for conversation, reflection and play. The laboratories and art rooms extend to the outdoors and breezy, shaded courtyards become outdoor classrooms promoting unconventional ways of learning and teaching.
