A Home Around a Pool
Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan
Interior Renovation, Built
30,000 Sq. Ft.
This home is for a ceramist and a painter. The couple wished to have spaces in which they could each create their art in a specific and solitary way. As a design strategy, the home is divided into a studio and living unit. A screened courtyard in the middle allows for ample light and cross ventilation. It serves as an interstitial space that separates but also connects the two sections of the home.
Neem Tree Residence
Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan
Under Construction
Seldom do we find the opportunity to build in a surrounding rich with shades and textures of various mature trees in the context of our city, Karachi. The approach to the home designed for a family of four is lined with dense plantation leading up to a Neem tree marking the entrance. While the other Neem tree, situated across the site provides shelter for pleasant evenings spent outdoors under its shade.
The Neem trees anchor the dwelling opening onto a veranda and the garden ahead. The living quarters positioned on the floor above provide the opportunity to interact with the canopy of the trees, often caught swaying with the wind. The terrace becomes a shared space for celebrations overlooking the garden with a mighty Banyan tree in sight.
