A Home Around a Pool
Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan
Interior Renovation, Built
30,000 Sq. Ft.
This home is for a ceramist and a painter. The couple wished to have spaces in which they could each create their art in a specific and solitary way. As a design strategy, the home is divided into a studio and living unit. A screened courtyard in the middle allows for ample light and cross ventilation. It serves as an interstitial space that separates but also connects the two sections of the home.
Terraced House
Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan
Under Construction
8,300 sqft
The site of this home overlooks a large expanse of land to be developed as a park. Taking advantage of this unique condition, the home is imagined as four floor plates that open to an expansive view. Two sides of the house are relatively solid where most of the private areas and service units are placed. Comparatively, the centre is fluid and transparent. The floor plates stagger to form terraces holding more inclusive functions like the living room, dining area, swimming pool and deck area. Each terrace is layered with vegetation and helps in connecting with the surrounding park.
